2021 Sydney Smart Home Trends

Smart Living Room

Not only does Home Automation turn your sanctuary into a secure, comfortable and energy-efficient safe haven, but it also makes your home look really impressive to your guests. With the click of a button through an app on your smartphone, or by talking to your home assistant, you can control anything in your home. Turn off, on, down, up, monitor, programme timers, set reminders … the options are endless. You don’t even have to turn your whole house into a smart home to get the energy-saving, time-saving, worry saving benefits. There are Home Automation options that suit any lifestyle.

Keep reading to find out what’s trending in Sydney Smart homes in 2021 …

  1. Smart surveillance

Smart surveillance is popping up in homes all over Sydney, and it’s easy to understand why. No matter where you are, whether you are 5 minutes away or a flight away, you can access your home security cameras from an app on your phone.

Whether you want to have the ability to see who just rung your doorbell, or know what your pet gets up to when you’re not there, it’s clear to see why smart surveillance is one of the most popular smart home trends of 2021.

  1. Smart locks

Besides feeling like 007 every time you enter your house, using a smart lock is just… well, smart. You don’t have to worry about forgetting your keys, or forgetting whether you locked the door when you left the house. Smart Locks use thumbprint recognition or your very own 4+ digit code to unlock your front door. You can also just use the app on your phone.

But the cool features don’t stop there …

If you like to Airbnb your house when you’re away than smart locks will become your new best friend. By using the app that connects to your smart lock you can send temporary codes to guests that will expire the day they checkout.

Cool, convenient, safe … it’s hard not to love smart locks.

  1. Smart Lights

How many times have you remembered only seconds after getting into your nice warm bed, that you left the kitchen light on? Or the bathroom light? Or the hallway light? Instead of wasting time on the nightly routine of turning off every light in your home, just turn them all off with an app on your smartphone, from your warm bed.

Other impressive features that are making this a hot 2021 trend is the ability to dim or brighten any light in your home, choose different colours for each room and programme the lights to turn on or off at a particular time, like sunset or sunrise.

Sydneysiders are also loving setting up themes/modes for their home. By clicking party mode when you have mates over your house will turn into changing hues of pink, green, blue etc.

Security, convenience and impressing guests, we can see why smart lights are trending for Sydney home automation in 2021.

  1.  Smart Roller blinds

What was once a luxury limited to the rich and famous, smart roller blinds are now more accessible to Sydneysiders than ever thanks to Sydney Home Automation.

With just one click of a button on your smartphone, you can open or close all the blinds in your home, saving you lots of time in the morning or night.

Interestingly, the features of the Smart Roller Blinds go beyond just the standard open and close options. With the ability to programme your blinds to open or close at particular times of the day at particular times of the year, your home will become not just time saving but also energy saving. Imagine your blinds automatically closing during the hottest day of the year to prevent the house from overheating, or automatically opening on sunny Winter days to heat up your chilly home. You can programme this yourself or connect your blinds to a home assistant where it will respond to readings from the weather forecast report.

With the added benefit of feeling like a rockstar in the morning when your bedroom blinds open automatically, we can see why Smart Roller Blinds are trending in Sydney in 2021.

Darren Dewerson - licensed electrician in Sydney

I started in the industry installing security alarms and CCTV camera systems 25 years ago in London. I worked on thousands of sites servicing alarm electrical systems for large building companies, schools & other locations.

When I arrived in Australia I wasn’t allowed to apply for a security licence as I was not a citizen at the time so I decided get my TAFE qualifications and retrain as an electrician which complimented my electrical assistant work in London. I have been working as an electrician in Sydney since 2005.

For just over 40 years I have been involved in all types of electrical installations, upgrades, emergency repairs and set ups.
